This step-by-step guide will help you to create a method for falling asleep quickly and waking up feeling better than ever. If you are having trouble sleeping or not waking up feeling well, this is the guide for you. You can also refer to my post I wrote about setting up your dream, cozy night routine. This will certainly help in decreasing those sleepless nights.
Getting a good night's rest is crucial to your health and lifestyle. Too often, people overlook the importance of sleeping for at least 8 hours a night. This can very quickly lead to burnout. Despite what our hustle-culture world may tell you, in no way do you need to sacrifice your sleep to achieve the millions of things we are told to do in a day.

I am not a health professional. Please consult your doctor before trying any of these things. These are simply my observations on improving my sleep.
Working out regularly
If you are wanting to get a good night's rest regularly, my first tip is to get some sort of exercise in often. This does not mean that you should push yourself too hard, as that has usually decreased my sleep quality personally.
One way you can get activity in is by signing up at fitness centers near your area. However, if you do not feel comfortable doing so, or just want a more affordable option, try using online workout videos. I enjoy doing yoga, pilates, stretching, etc. They are typically low-impact ways of getting a daily workout in.
Not only will morning you thank you for it, but you will overall have more energy throughout the day regardless.
Drink or use herbs that improve your sleep
One of the best ways to make sure you get good sleep is to make use of melatonin, lavender, and chamomile.
Not only is melatonin good for your skin, but for your sleep quality as well. Personally, melatonin does not make as much of a difference in my sleep as these other two herbs, but still a noticeable difference.
With lavender, I notice that I have more vivid dreams. This can be a negative trait if you tend to have bad dreams. However, I like to dream vividly regardless, since I like to update my dream journal regularly. Although this may not work well for you, so take note of how lavender makes you feel.
Chamomile tends to calm my stress and anxiety. I often have anxiety attacks at night that give me chest pains, a warm mug of chamomile tea always relieves it, even a little.
Journal, reflect, and prepare for the day ahead
This is the time of the day that you can write out whatever stresses you had throughout the day, update your daily journal and prepare for the day ahead. It is important when trying to feel refreshed the next day to reflect on your day and get out anything you need to ease your mind. If you had a rough day, try reassuring yourself that no matter what, you will get through it. That you have dealt with similar things and have always gotten through it. Even if you have not. Treat yourself how you would treat your best friend or loved one in this situation.
Make use of apps like Sleep Cycle
Apps like Sleep Cycle, Headspace and Slumber are useful in improving your sleep. With Sleep Cycle you can set an alarm that starts 15-30 mins before your necessary wake up time. It will slowly wake you up with a gradual peaceful alarm. This always helps me feel less tired when I wake up the next day. Therefore, it is a great tool to use.
Listen to a sleep meditation or binaural beats
If you have only tried one of these, test out how other sleep music makes you feel. You can even alternate depending on what you are in the mood for each day. This will put you in a relaxed state and should calm the noise in your head, especially if you are an over-thinker, enough to get deep sleep.
If neither of these options sound fitting for you, sleep can also be improved by nature sounds such as ocean waves, rain sounds, bird noises, etc.
Hopefully, these tips help you as much as they help me every night. I wake up most days feeling refreshed and ready to accomplish anything. Getting a good night's rest regularly helps me stay motivated and keeps me from being burnt out, even on my most busy days.
